Let’s be real: AI can’t replicate friction. It can’t replicate the way a human hand shakes or the specific way a piece of foil..catches the light when you drag a scanner over it at 2 AM.

I’m obsessed with the "sampling" culture of 90s Hip Hop - taking something real, something raw, and flipping it into something new. That’s exactly how I built the RAW SCAN ARCHIVE. I took a handheld document scanner and went to work on stacks of old paper, industrial foils, and packaging.

Because I was moving the scanner by hand, I captured all those beautiful "mistakes" the scan lines, the motion blur, and the grit that you only get from physical movement. No algorithms, no prompts. Just me, a scanner, and a bunch of textures sampled from reality.

How to Use the Archive

This isn't about "clean" design. This is for the fearless stuff. Here’s how I’ve been using them:

• The Brutalist Background: Throw a high-contrast negative scan behind some bold, oversized typography. Instant 90s underground vibe.
• The "Zine" Overlay: Set a paper texture to Screen or Multiply over your photos to give them that DIY, cut-and-paste aesthetic.
• Foil Masking: Use the foil textures as a clipping mask for your logos or titles to give them a distorted, metallic sheen that looks like a scanned record sleeve.
• Depth & Grime: Lower the opacity and use these as subtle overlays to kill that "too-digital" look on your social media assets.
